Puppy Album

My gosh, its been a while!! We had a family reunion over the weekend, and I have still not recovered! I got to do a lot of cooking, which I love, but it was a lot of work this time! Anyways, we even went fishing, and had oodles of fun. So I thought I would share something with you that I made for one of my husbands friends. Its a dog album. I only have a few of the pages here, but you get the drift of it! This page above, really has a real dog tag on it! The little bones and hydrants were stamps. To make this album, You need, 3 paper bags. 3 different coordinating decorative papers and 2 solids, making one light, and one dark. On this particular album, I used mustard and olive green.
I also used 13 dog quotes. I got them off of my many basset calendars! I just went back through them and picked up all of the sayings that I liked, and printed them out and sponged ink around them to add life to them. I love this page, because I got to use my Quikutz...I love that dog one, and here I got to do him in different colors and make him look bull-dogish...

These two pages open on the sides for pullouts decorated to add other ideas, photos. Oh, and I also used 3 different ribbons. I found dog ones pretty easy. I have one with furry on it, one light one with paw prints and a dark one with paw prints.

In the album, there are 2 pockets instead of a place to put photos, but you can always put photos on the tags that are in the pocket. Each pocket has 5 tags in it. There are also 3 large pull out tags on the sides of the book.

This is the front page of the book. I got to use that dog punch again! There is a hydrant, bone and dish on the front too. Its all sponged in mustard. I used staples too, and on some pages instead of using photo corners, I used dog bones. I had a blast making this little album, hope you enjoy it too! KJ

Paint Cans for Teachers Gifts

Here's seven of the paint cans I made for teacher's gifts. I got the cans at Staples, for 1.99, and I got all of the supplies inside of them too there. I just picked up things like sticky pads, pens, pencils, erasers, paper clips, thumbtacks and I also got some of the shredded kinky paper but I got that at the dollar store...
I just used the DP paper packs I had on hand, mostly SU stuff, but there is other companies in there too. I tried to decorate each can differently. The green can looks like a corset that is done up. The brown and red cans, I tried to fringe the paper, one is punched in the middle, they remind me of my grandma's old fashioned lamps she had. I wide weaved the blue can and punched circles for the plummy can.
Anyways, I had a lot of fun decorating them and deciding which papers to use and where and how to use them.
It was an inexpensive gift too for the teachers but something they can use too. It came out to less than 5 dollars a can when you divide it all out.
To finish them off, each can has the teacher's initial I cut from chipboard, punched and tied on to the handles.

Friday Already? CD alterations

I can't believe how fast the weeks go sometimes, and how slow other are. This week has just zoomed by!
I thought I would share with you a couple of altered CD's... Now, I didn't make these, I traded for them, and unfortunately, I can't tell you who made them. But I like them. I thought they were adorable. Especially since they were pieced together. I am not a paper piecer...although with my cuttlebug and quikutz, I am getting more into it.
I didn't take a picture of my cd I made for trade. But, it was an Egyptian themed...I had a Pharaoh's head and the background was hieroglyphics...I did it in reds, blacks and pinks. It sounds awful, but it worked really well.
Anyways, I am off to a wedding, so have a happy Friday!!!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Well, its my mom's birthday. So this entry is going to be short, but I thought I would share with you her birthday card.
Its base is that light pink from SU. Then I found a bunch of DP's, It hink that they are all SU too, and I cut them in 1/2 inch strips. Then I weaved them in the corner and let them cover out the rest of the page.
I stamped the cupcake from TAC, and colored it using the gamasol technique. I layered it on the page with the Happy Day. Really simple, and she really seemed to like it! Hope you did too!

Last Recipes of 74 for book!!!

Well, these are the last of the 74 recipes that went in my mom's recipe book for Mother's Day. I know, I'm late. But she didn't care. I posted these two on top, because the top one has to be my favorite layout of all of them. Its just ribbons and flowers...the bottom one, the little spoon? Its from Cold Stone, where I was taste testing chocolate cake batter ice cream. (yes, I had to get some!) I thought it would be fun to put it on a recipe!
The stars were one of my challenges, to use, they are leftover from a Christmas project that I did. The paisly, well, I had to use my new template for Cuttlebug...plus the quikuts paisley die I got for 40 cents!!

The dollar tree has this ribbon, and it has the danglies,I thought, why not? So I put some on the Tang Salad card...my other challenge was those stickers on it. I hate stickers. I know, boo me if you must, but I really do. Maybe its because I didn't design them...who knows, but I went waaaaay out of my comfort zone and used stickers...
Hope you like them It has taken forever to get them finished! Now to work on a couple of other projects I got going. Will share when I can!!
Happy Tuesday!

Still no punch and gold paper...darn Brownies!

Still doing embeshiment style...the belt buckle in this one...and the purple flower in the second one. Whew...after all these, I only have 6 more to go!
I liked these two. The top one is purple, but I found this paper that looks like floor tiles, it had blue and yellow and brown in it, plus the purple. The second, is the ric-rac, I have a supply of that too,and though, I really ought to use is. This is the gigantic ric-rac, and the flowers are lace flowers. Wierd. I think that people might use them on curtains or like dingleberries on their truck or something...

Rub ons were another thing I had to use, and rhinestones.
So, I hope you like these shares. Like I said, I only have 6 more to go, and then I will have done a total of 74 recipes for my mom. I got the binder, which I decorated from Staples. It holds the 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 papers. Which is the size of the recipes. I think I would go crazy if they were smaller!
I have still been looking for that star punch. I bought one at the craft store the other day, its not the same size as the SU one...so...you know it, I am going to have to get the SU one. I am sure that those little brownies have taken it...I wish they would bring back the gold paper too....
:0)

4 more! Still hangin with me??

Here's 4 more. I'm starting to think they are all looking the same. So, I went to my embellishment box and pulled out random things. My new challenge to myself, is to
get through all of the embellishments. So for these pages, I had the red plastic squares, I have no idea what they are called, but they were really big a while back when everyone was into the square shapes...so of course I have them in all colors... :0)
The green brads were also one of the embellishments. Funny how you can find paper that just matches things...who would have thought to put red and olive green together on paper. But it works, so here it is.
The cherries were from my quikutz dies and I love Bohemian style. I don't know why, but I really do, and I found that paper and had to have it. I think it turned out pretty well.
Hope you have a Happy Sunday!!!

Did you ever...

You gotta love the cow... compliments of my friend Joani...
This lemonade pie, is one of my favorite layouts so far. Hmmm maybe
that pink and brown is growing on me???

Did you ever buy something, "KNOW" that you bought it, only to find that you no longer can find this item? Even after you have searched it seems to the ends of your home? I have done this recently. I was searching for my large star punch from SU. I "know" I bought it, at least I think that I did, why else did I buy all the stamp sets with the stars in them if I didn't buy the punch? Isn't that logical thinking? I have the sets, I have the small punch...I had to have gotten the big punch. But it seems, that either the brownies have it and are punching aways stars...with the missing gold paper...or, I just plain didn't buy the thing. I can't find evidence of me using it anywhere either...no stars on anything, my books not marked that I bought it...so why do I keep seaching??? Because somewhere in my mind, I believe I did, that is why I will purchase a second one, and then those brownies will return the first one...:0)

Recipes & stuff

I love this one, it has a flower made out of vellum hearts!
The scanner made the reds not match in the second one, but they are
the same color...wierd huh. The top and bottom of that one are made by folding
the strip over and over again on itself. Of these two, I kinda like the orange and blue
one. Just so happened, I had orange and blue ribbon. Too fun!

Well, I've been below again. Here are 4 more recipes to share with you. That means 20 more to go! Hope you guys will be patient with me til I get them all knocked out!!
On another note, I've been one parenting it for a while. Hubs is in Las Vegas for conferences. Whaaa, I know. He gets the warm weather, I get the massive wind storms with power outages and tree limbs everywhere. But, we are all safe and sound. I have to take my oldest to the doc's today for a bit of surgery. It shouldn't be too bad, because its in his office. (right??) I am stressed. So, send some happy thoughts my way kay?!

Calm Seas Tuesday

Stampin' Up! came up with this little beauty of a stamp set a few years ago. It is called Calm Seas, and even though I don't live on the coast, or near it, I had to have this set.
So, I was playing around with it, and cut the image into an oval. I watercolored it using my ink pads and lids. Then, when it was dry, I took crystal effects, and colored the lighthouse so it is shiny, then I put crystal effects on the water/waves below and then dumped clear crystal beads all over it.
next, I mounted it on the red cardstock and took gold cording and glued it all around the oval. I wanted it to glue fast, and clear, so I used the crystal effects again. Then as a last touch, I stamped the cute little pelican from the set on the bottom of the card and colored him with pencils. I mounted the whole thing to a white card.
Once again, the card looks better in person, than on the scanner. What's up with that???

Bleach & Radiant Pearls

My most favorite medium to use ever... is Radiant Pearls. I love the stuff. It has qualities of oil paints and watercolors, I think the best from both. It is also shimmery, I really like that too. So, if I have the time, I like to make me some projects that I can use the RP on. One of my fav stamps is from Stampendous, it was there floral line. They made these gigantic stamps that had all of the flowers on. I collected as many of them as I could. To make these two cards, here is what I did.
First, I stamped the image in versamark, on black paper and embossed in black embossing powder. Next, I took one of those watercolor brushes, I believe they are called aqua brushes, I filled mine with bleach and then I painted inside all of the embossing. Some areas I wanted lighter and some I wanted darker, you just have to apply more bleach to those areas, wait until it drys, then go over it again to get the most lift that you can. Be careful with your papers, as black doesn't always bleach up to white. SU's kinda goes orange. but, I applied lots of layers of bleach and got mine pretty white. I needed to let it dry then, I let mine dry for at least a day. So if you do it before bedtime, its pretty ready to go the next day.
Then, use your RPs! Too bad when you scan it you can't see the different colors in them. In the rose, there are 3 different colors of red used, plus 3 different colors of green. The calla lilly card has two different colors of white, plus purple in it and 3 other colors of green.
Anyways, I thought they would be good sympathy cards, as I always need those dang cards and I run out of ideas for them! The Rose card, I mounted on glossy red, and the Calla Lilly card, I mounted on shimmery white, before mounting both on black again.
Hope you enjoy!

Happy Mother's Day to you!!

I worked with my brown challenge that I have, and copied a really cool card from my friend Joani. She did the cutest card with a cupcake. I took her card, turned it on its side, made my circles a little larger and punched holes in them.
I sponged around them with brown and the brown panel in the background is done using my cuttlebug, I used a textured template with a floral design on it. I sponged it in brown too, and tied it all with a organdy ribbon.
Happy Mother's Day to you all!!

My Brown Struggle

How can you not love this little bear???
My pink and brown...

My Hoot swap, I tried to make the second one look
as if he was sticking his head out of the trees and
all you can see was his head.. He is popped up with dots
maybe i should have put his feet on the trunk..

I know, it is so late, but I have to post! I've been busy again doing trading cards...
and cleaning my creation room! One day I will have to take a picture and show
you where I work. But I need to fix a few things first to make it picture worthy!
I have such a problem with brown. I try to sign up for swaps that I will have
to use the color. I SOOOOO hate brown. I dislike pink too, and blue. I know, I know
those are things I shouldn't tell people. But, really, brown is yucky.
So I joined these swaps to use the color. Hopefully they look ok. And please
don't hold it against me that I don't do brown!!

Trading Cards/ Recipes

My alphabet trading cards, J,K & L

4 more recipe cards...

Remember this swap I was in? Well, everyone had made their cards now
and you can go and view them and even vote for the one you think
did the best job with the supplies at hand! Go to: Cards Made By Hand on the Yuku board
there should be a link on the side of here to take you there!

Morning to you!! I got some much needed trading cards finished yesterday. I am in an alphabet swap with the trading cards. You make two that depict the letter, and then you have partners that you mail to. Its a different partner every time. I do that with my Just Cards Yuku group. So here are three of my swaps, J, K and L. My favorite is the jeans pocket.
The other two are recipes that I made for my mom's book. Only 24 more to go!!

What I did. I took some of my favorite recipes. I typed them up on Word, then I printed them off on random bazzill paper. Then, for some I went to the local scrap store, but for most of them, I just looked in my stash. I looked for 3 coordinating designer papers and one more Bazzill that would match. Then, depending on the papers and the recipe, I designed around that.

It goes super fast! Remember to check the Yuku board!!

A "little behind"

I am so behind in posting, so here is a "little behind" for you!! Hope you like her, I thought she was so cute. My youngest has a thing for monkeys, apes...so I found her, I believe she is from Mostly Animals, but I don't know if they are even in business anymore!
I made them to trade with someone in trading cards. I stamped them on glossy paper and inked them up with daubers, not being careful so I could blend the colors. I just blended with my
finger, as I was too lazy to look for a blender!! It worked... Then I dipped the whole card into clear embossing powder and embossed the card several times so that it has a thick coat of clear all over it. I mounted them on SU textured cardstock.
I've been busy making more things, trying like crazy to finish my mom's recipe book... I made 12 more recipes, and still going!! I'll try to post some later! Mother's Day is coming fast!!

Share from Hunter

Hunter came home from school with this picture. Now I know your saying, all of our kids color pictures right? Well, at his school, they took art, music and things like that away. My oldest is in 6th grade, and they have never used a box of crayons yet. So, this year, at the end of the year, there is what? 4 weeks left of school? She is bringing out color pictures for them. He is in third grade and this is the first time, they have been doing this. I can't tell you how excited the kids are to make something, even if it is just coloring. (and that is a such a shame, not to mention waste...) Anyways, Hunter colors this boot. He has 16 crayons. I am really pleased with what he did!! He did shading and everything. He was really pleased with his picture too, he said, mom, to get different colors, I don't press hard, or I do press hard. I am glad he has a sense of color, and looks to me like talent too!! (Proud Momma!)

Long week away!

It has been a very stressful week. To end my stress, I made these little purses!
They are on certainly celery cardstock, and I stamped on them with the Trendy Trees stamp
set from Stampin Up. I made little tags to tie on them. I made them for my
stamp club, that is coming up this month. They were really fun to make
and I got to put a treat inside of them!
This was part of my stress. Jade had to make a pinata for his history class... it is for Cinco de Mayo. Everyone got to make pinata's and they are hanging them up around the school.
Jade has a thing for flags, so he made his pinata look sorta like our flag...it became a sorta
when he found out how hard it was to make stars and things! Mom was
stressed, because she didn't want to end up doing the project for him, so he spent many
long hours at the table doing it. I think in the end it turned out really well!
He is happy with it.
This is another little stress man. He started baseball. I took him to his first game where he was suppost to pitch. He was nervous, me too, then we got a phone call from the Hubby. His car was broke and could I go get him? So... I left Hunter with his baseball team, warming up, drove like a mad woman to another town to get hubby, drove like crazy back, to make it in time to see them start the game. Son comes over to mom, guess what? He got hit in the face at warm ups! Now something you should know about Hunter. He doesn't have pain receptors, or if he does, they don't work. His little face was swelling, but he couldn't tell me where he was hit. He assures me that he can play ball though. So he goes out. Second inning when he is coming in from field, his face is sagging on one side. Talk about having a heart attack on the spot! Luckily, there was a orthodontist dad, at the game! He said that if we hit the nerve at the bottom of the jaw, that that could happen. Well, we weren't sure... but when we got home, motrin, sleep, the next morning, he came up to me. Still a little swollen, but you could see the stitches from the ball were on his lower jaw. Thankfully, today, he is all better!!
I should probably mention too, that my dad had surgery in the middle of all of this, and I was up at the hospital with him. Thankfully, he too is all right and at home recouping.
Now for me to recoup!!!
I plan to see a movie! Scrapbook! Stamp! Watercolor! And anything else I want to do
today! How's that??
