Crocheting!!

Just so you know I haven't been slothful! I have been doing some new layouts and things, but can't share them with you just yet. So, here is the latest thing that I finished. A crocheted blanket.
It has taken me about forever to finish it. It can cover a queen bed, but its for my mom's couch for mother's day. I started this little project about 3-4 years ago. Maybe 2...anyways, its taken FOREVER! It started out great. In one night I knocked out over 3 feet of it....then as it started getting bigger, it started taking longer and longer to make my way round it... It dragged on. So the other night, I got it out and said. "Keersten, you must finish this. They no longer make those colors of yarn. Whatever you have is what you have to finish it and you have two days to get it done." Well, when I speak to myself that way. I always do what I say. (mostly) So, I finished it in the two days.
Please don't ask me to make you one. You might not see it for a few years and I would stress and stress... :)

Sherbet

These colors remind me of sherbet. I got that cute set from SU... petal pizazz...When I see this stamp from it, I think of oranges. So I stamped a few, and punched them out as circles to make orange slices. Ummm...not so good. Probably would have worked butter with another color. So I tried the scallop punch. Like it. Like it a lot!
The stripes on the yellow part of the card are done with the flowers stem. I tore the green paper in the center and then I stamped another flower in the light orange section.

Here's a closeup of the flowers. For the centers I used this glue that I won from the fair. It is full of glitter. It dried with a dimple in the middle, but its ok. I like how the card turned out. I call it Sherbet.

Black and White

I love making black and white cards. I don't know what it is about them, but I really like them. Maybe they seem clean.. or simple. Maybe because how to make them is as easy as black and white. Here is one I made the other day. All supplies in this card are SU's...
Here's a close up of the butterfly. It is an embosslet die. There are 5 butterflies in the die, this being the largest one. Then I got one of the Easter Egg kits from their mini... and inside of it was these rhinestones. (You know how I love them) these though, were on a strip. I thought, what I am I going to do with those? Butterfly bodies! That's also SU's embossing template for polka dots...a girls best friend!

Don't you just love this little card? My friend Joani sent it to me for my birthday. I had to share it with you. She makes the cutest things, and they always have lots of layers on them. She is not stingy when it comes to making cards! She even used seed beads as the sprinkles on the cake!

Another recipe!!

Ok, you know how I love butterflies and purple, and um...rhinestones. So I came up with this layout. I really like it. Plus, the cornbread is really good! Hubby hates cornbread that tastes like cornbread...my cornbread tastes like cake... then you add bacon and apples? Winner!!
Here is a another of our favorite recipes. They are really easy to make, and what is funny, is people say that they don't like dates....until they eat this. You really have no idea it is a date, just something sweet, salty and yummy.
We came across this recipe when we went to visit Chicago one year. We went to a Tapas bar. Totally did not know what that was. Hubs was doing a class there and the professor invited us to this place. He ordered all sorts of little things that came on little plates. Totally fun! This was our favorite. I spritz with water to make the sugar melt faster, but at the restaurant, they did it with apple juice. Its unnecessary, but it does add flavor. Try them!

Spring Cards

Over at LNS they have a challenge going on for the week. It is to use designer paper. SU's of course, well, I have some of that! So, because spring is suppose to be coming, but isn't here yet, I was getting springy. Course, my DS paper is pink too...
I cut it into 1/2 inch strips, and then weaved it at the bottom corner. The tree branch I stamped in brown, then stamped the leaves over it with the leaf stamp, repeatedly so that there were different levels of color on the leaves.
I stamped the butterflies in the upper corner. I liked how it turned out!
This second card, is springy too. I used the True Friend set. I colored with markers and then stamped. I used the blow gun to get the sprinkles on the card. My ribbon is pink. Its hard to see from the scan, but it is...

D page

This is the new stamp set I got for my birthday. I love this flower. I was doing my D-page layout, and I loved the colors I am doing. I have a thing for Cameo Coral...its pinkie, I know! But not really pink enough to be classified as "pink". But I needed an embellishment to make it pull together and this stamp set did the trick. I though, how am I going to make it all those colors? Chalk baby!
I stamped them all in Versa Mark, then I colored the leaves in Old Olive, the middle and base of the flowers are Cameo Coral and the centers are Summer Sun, and the outer and tips are Ruby Red. I like how they came out the same colors!

Here is the layout. I was really proud of myself, because I didn't buy anything new to make these last two layouts!! I used stuff from my stash! I did 28 layouts each, so that's a lot of stuff!!

I'm going to have to go shopping in my stamp room more often!
